On 3 July 2026, Special Olympics Malaysia (SOM) travelled to Kelantan for a meaningful outreach programme held at Min House Camp, bringing together approximately 100 participants for a day filled with learning, movement, health awareness, and inclusion.
The programme began with an introduction to Special Olympics Malaysia, where participants were introduced to our mission of creating inclusive opportunities through sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID). Participants learned more about the various programmes available, the journey of Special Olympics athletes, and how participation in sports can help individuals develop confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.

The day continued with an engaging aerobics session led by dedicated Sport Science lecturers and students from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). The session encouraged participants to stay active while creating a fun and supportive environment for everyone to participate.
Following the aerobics session, participants took part in fitness assessments conducted with the support of the USM team. These assessments aimed to provide a better understanding of each individual’s physical fitness levels and overall well-being, while promoting the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
Beyond the activities conducted, this outreach programme represented a step towards strengthening connections with the community and creating more opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate in inclusive sports and health initiatives.
Special Olympics Malaysia believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to be active, healthy, and included. Through programmes like this, we continue working towards building communities where individuals of all abilities are welcomed, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
