Healthy Athlete Program in Conjunction to Special Olympics Asia Pacific Badminton Competition, Malaysia 2025
As a regional event, this HAP brought together athletes from 9 other Asia Pacific countries to gain access to essential health screenings that may not always be readily available in their home communities. Beyond health services, HAP created meaningful interactions among athletes, volunteers, and medical professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds. These interactions promoted inclusion, mutual respect, and a shared understanding that health is a fundamental part of sports participation and overall quality of life.
The Healthy Athletes Programme at SOAPBC 2025 demonstrated that when countries come together through sport, they can also advance in health inclusion. Special Olympics remains committed to strengthening regional partnerships and ensuring that athletes with intellectual disabilities across Asia Pacific have the opportunity to live healthier, more active lives.
